“Number Four is my little haven for two hours a week. I go to the knit and chat group where I have met so many lovely people who have become true friends. The shop has a wonderful atmosphere, when you walk through the door it’s a colourful happy place to be in, and Sarah is always on hand with a smile on her face to help anyone out with any questions they may have. When I go to Number Four I have a few hours of ‘me time’, and I love it. And of course they sell a fantastic range of yarns, needles, hooks, patterns, and many more delights.”

Dominique says…

“What does Number four mean to me?  Happiness, friendship, love (of wool and Sarah), a place to call home when you need comfort, a place to share stories, laughter and triumphs, a place to laugh, a place to cry a place to create. A place where strangers become friends.  Number Four is more than a shop, it is a place of worship for all of us.”

Wendy says…

“Number Four should be on prescription.  Therapy in the form of yarn, the wonderful Sarah and amazing friends at knit and natter. I don’t know how we managed before it opened #numberfouristhebest”

“Well, what can I say about Number Four other than it’s the most awesome wool shop ever. For starters as soon as you walk in you get a lovely greeting with a fabulous smile from Sarah who owns this shop. Then you have all the patterns if needed to look through before even choosing your wool, there is every type of wool you could wish for in such amazing colours also if you need it you have the advice from Sarah as to which wool is best for what you want to knit/crochet. Along with knitting needles, crochet hooks and more numerous items for sale that will help you with your knitting/crochet.  You will be well and truly spoilt for choice.  If you’ve not been into see Sarah yet then do so as you will wonder why you never found her before.”

“If you need inspiration this is the place to go. I came here for help with recreating my grandmothers wedding bouquet. The shop is incredible. So many choices and the owner was very friendly and helped me immensely. If you don’t go you’re missing out!!”

Pirjo says…

“I have been absolutely amazed what an amazing community Sarah has created at Number Four since opening just over two years ago. I encouraged Sarah to open a shop close to mine, I thought she’d be a perfect shopkeeper and amazing at running her own business, but she’s so much more! I never knew what an excellent people’s person she was and how it comes naturally to put everyone at ease and help them to forget their worries at Chat & Craft groups and Workshops too. It’s such a pleasure to be running a business from the same row of shop. It feels ever more like a community now! Sarah is also responsible for bringing out the knitaholic in me. Before she opened, I had hardly been knitting for 20 years, but since I got the bug, not a day has gone by without a stitch or two! The range of yarns that Sarah stocks is fabulous, there’s something for every purse and project.”

Eun says…

“Number four to me is a chance for me to socialise and meet new people who have also become lovely friends, I’ve learnt new crafts and slowly going bankrupt haha but I love it and wouldn’t have it any other way. Fabulous place highly recommend it.”

Julia says…

“I love the large range of yarn, the warm welcome and the cosy craft groups. Sarah is the heart of Number Four; her enthusiasm and passion for learning new skills is infectious. I can arrive at the shop stressed from a difficult day at work, but always leave happy and calm. Thank you.”

Beth says…

“Number Four is a truly special shop. Although I don’t pop in very often, I’m always greeted with a friendly smile and a warm chat when I do. I love buying my yarn from someone who’s so passionate about their products and doesn’t mind me squishing all the balls to check which will be best! An absolute gem!”

Helen-Ann says…

“I had been wanting to learn to crochet for years, I had tried using videos, books and magazines but nothing made sense…  until I joined one of Sarah’s crochet courses.  By the time I attended the second session I was totally addicted to crochet and it all made perfect sense.  Thanks to Sarah’s patient and straight forward way of teaching I have gained a new love.  I even joined her again for 2 additional crochet workshops to improve my new skill event further (Corner 2 Corner and Mandala).  Number Four is my wool shop of choice and I can’t praise Sarah highly enough.”

Debbie says…

“In a world of disappearing local shops this is an absolute little gem. The owner, Sarah, is friendly and very knowledgable. She sells a wonderful variety of yarn to suit all pockets + accessories and patterns. She also puts on a variety of classes for absolute beginners and seasoned crocheters and knitters. In addition she holds regular chat and craft sessions – a great way to chat and meet new people and to get advice and help. A fabulous shop not to be missed.”

Thom says…

Vicky says…

“Well where do I start….. I don’t get in half as much as I would like to due to work BUT whenever I do Sarah is always so welcoming and knows pretty much all of her customers by name which is always a nice touch as it makes you feel that little bit special! You stop being “just a customer” I am looking forward to being able to join some of the groups on a Saturday soon now that my shifts have changed! The best day ever was when this lovely little shop and its even lovelier owner arrived at the top of my street!”

Janet says…

“My fourteen year old granddaughter thinks Number Four is the ‘coolest’ shop she’s ever been in. Soon after the shop opened Sarah taught me to crochet and I love it! She always has a warm welcome and with her encouragement and advice I have made so many different things. The shop is always well stocked with gorgeous yarns and goodies.”

Sue says…

“Number Four is a an amazingly well stocked treasure trove of wool and equipment for new and experienced wool crafters. It’s a bit like a tardis, you can’t imagine how everything fits in! Not only that but Sarah gives a warm welcome to everyone, advice, training sessions, knit and natter sessions and has encouraged a strong feeling of community within her knitting and crocheting customers. It’s my favourite wool shop and I recommend you visit.”

Anna says…

“Number Four is my Number 1 place to go for, for yarn, hooks, needles, bits and bobs, and the best thing is advice. I came to Number Four for a course, and left totally hooked! Sarah has helped me immensely with my projects, and even took my blanket home and showed me how to ‘block’. Without doubt this shop and ‘proprietaress’ are the best thing for any novice or experienced yarn hobbyist.”

Marlene says…

“Brilliant resource and friendly support , lots of fab stuff to buy.”

Karen says…

“Going to Number Four is so much more than just shopping…it’s FUN. It’s also an assault on the senses with so much amazing colour, texture and choice. I love the little accessories too, so even if you are a non-crafter you can buy in confidence for a wool-a-holic and get it spot on! It’s a little woolly haven and Sarah has worked hard to build a real community spirit. You will – 100% leave happier, if you get a chance to visit. Highly recommended.”

“Living in Kathmandu most of the year, I only get to drop into Number Four a few times each year when I’m home – but right from the word go it’s been a warm and welcoming hub of creativity. I always look forward to my visits – from a knit and natter to building up my ever increasing stash of wool! Thank you, Sarah, for everything you do!”

Sue says…

“Love this little Aladdins cave of wool and accessories. Only wish I could visit more often.”
